Community

A study community, held openly

Why this space exists, how a meeting runs, what is never done with what is shared, and where the boundary is. A community studying this material holds real influence over a newcomer, so the whole of that is published here — public, so that anyone can hold the community, including the facilitator, to it.

A difficult text, met alone, in the wrong register

The Ra Contact is a long conversation recorded in North American English in the early 1980s. This community exists for a modest and specific job.

The material assumes a reader willing to hold a large model in mind across hundreds of pages, and it offers no on-ramp. Most people who find it arrive through a fragment: a quote on a video, a screenshot, a paraphrase that may or may not be accurate.

In India, that experience has a particular shape. The questions the material is asking are close to questions already alive here, and the material's vocabulary sits unevenly beside the vocabulary we inherited. Studying it alone tends to produce one of two failures: treating it as an imported authority, or dissolving it into what we already know.

So this community exists to make careful study possible together, in Indian life, in a space that says plainly what it is and is not. The material invites; it does not proselytise, and the same assumption holds here: an open door, published rules, and no pressure on anyone to walk through it.

A session, step by step

Sessions are announced in the community channel before each one, with the time, the passage, and the joining link. There is no registration and no account: you do not need to tell anyone you are coming, and you can leave at any point without explanation.

  1. 01

    Arriving

People join, greet each other, and settle. There is no roll call and no introduction round. Nobody is asked what they are working on.

  2. 02

    Opening the space

A short opening, held the same way each time, which marks the room as set apart from ordinary traffic. Nothing is required of you during it.

  3. 03

    Reading together

A passage from the material is read aloud, usually by the facilitator. The passage is named with its reference, so it can be looked up afterwards.

  4. 04

    Conversation

The room talks about what the passage means in an ordinary week, and questions are taken as they come. Silence is a contribution; nobody is called on.

  5. 05

    Closing

The session closes at a stated time. There is no after-session supervision, no follow-up obligation, and no group to be added to unless you ask.

Eight commitments

These apply to sessions, to the community channel, and to anyone acting as a facilitator.

Presence over performance

There is nothing to demonstrate here: not depth, not seniority, not the right vocabulary. Someone who has read for a decade and someone who read the start-here page this morning are equally welcome and equally heard.

No one is recruited

Nobody is invited into an inner circle, asked to commit, or told that their progress depends on staying. Growth in this material is not something a group can hold hostage.

Interpretation is offered, never applied

You may share what a passage means to you. You may not tell another person what their experience means, or what they should do about it. That is their work.

Careful questions are welcome

A precise question is not an attack, and "I think this part may be wrong" is a legitimate contribution. A room that punishes careful questioning has stopped studying. When you disagree, first say what the other person has said in your own words, then give a reason: "I think that is wrong, because…" is a contribution here, and "that is nonsense" is not.

What is said here stays here

Personal disclosures are not repeated outside the room, in any form, including by facilitators. See the consent conventions below.

No promotion, no commerce

No selling, no self-promotion, no affiliate links, no invitations to paid programmes, no commercial content of any kind. This space is not monetised and is not a channel for anyone’s business.

Respect for other traditions

The material does not supersede Indian practice, and this community does not treat it as if it did. Comparisons are studied with care; dismissals are not welcome.

No claims of authority

Nobody here speaks on behalf of the material, the facilitator, or the community. There is no lineage, no transmission, and no one whose interpretation is final.

How the space is held, and who decides what is published

Sessions are held in the community's facilitation practice — a held container, a shared reading, questions taken as they come — currently facilitated by Ishan Parihar, with community members training as co-facilitators. The facilitator's work is structural rather than interpretive: open the space the same way each time, keep the rhythm, protect the conventions, and make sure one voice does not become the room. Facilitation is a practice that members train into, not a rank, and the aim is several people who can hold a session rather than one indispensable person.

This is where the material's first principle becomes practical. If free will is absolute, then a teacher who removes a student's choosing has removed the only thing the exchange was for. The facilitator does not interpret your life, does not decide what a passage means for you, and does not hold your practice.

Facilitation here is a way of holding a room, not a claim about who is speaking. We do not borrow a channelled source's name for our own practice, and nothing in this community speaks as one. Nothing the community publishes is written anonymously, and material offered as coming from a source that cannot be named is not published. That is a rule rather than a description: an unattributed contribution does not go out.

The community stays sovereign over what is published here, including session notes, essays, and any research that arrives from elsewhere. Nothing goes up on the strength of the facilitator's preference alone. That is also why this site is deliberately small: it has no accounts, no comments, no newsletter, and no dashboards, because the community runs its conversation in a channel where it already lives.

Changes to these guidelines are announced in the community channel before they take effect, with the reason stated.

What to do if something is wrong

  1. Raise it in the room at the time if you can. Most problems are small and get smaller when named early.
  2. If it involves a person, and naming it in the room would be unsafe or unfair, write to the facilitator directly through the contact route below.
  3. If it involves the facilitator, tell another member of the community and ask them to carry it. A room where only one person can receive a complaint is a room with a single point of failure.
  4. If a concern is not resolved, you are free to leave and to say why. There is no consequence for leaving, and none of your words stay here against your wishes.

The boundary

What this space is not

Stated once, in full, here. Everywhere else on this site that touches the same boundary links back to this section rather than restating it.

This is a sacred space for collective study and facilitation. It is not personal counselling, not therapy, not healing work, and not a place to bring a personal crisis. The facilitator practises professionally in that other room, on a different surface, for a different purpose. The two are kept separate deliberately, and this community does not blend them, does not refer people into paid programmes, and does not present study as treatment.

If you are in distress, please reach a qualified professional or a local crisis service rather than this community. Nobody here is on call, and a study channel is not a safe place to be in an emergency. That is not a rejection. It is the boundary that keeps this room usable for what it is.

Why this site is deliberately small

It has no accounts, no comments, no newsletter, and no dashboards, because the community runs its conversation in a channel where it already lives. The site does the three things a site is good at: it explains the material, it holds the guidelines in public, and it gives a newcomer one honest place to land.

The material itself is published by L/L Research and readable in full at the Law of One archive. Nothing here supersedes that source or grants anyone authority over it.

How to reach us

Community channel

Sessions and announcements run in the community channel. It is a Telegram group, and joining it is the whole of the commitment. This is also where sessions are announced.

Email

For corrections, consent requests, and anything that should not be said in a group. Messages are read by a person, usually within a few days, and where it matters to the answer they are read by the members who hold that part of the work.

What reaches the right place

  • A question before you attend a session, including "is this for me at all?" It may already be answered on the start-here page.
  • A correction: a misquotation, a term defined badly, a claim this site cannot support.
  • A consent request, or a withdrawal of consent for something published here.
  • A concern about how the space is held. See above for how those are received.
  • An offer of help: co-facilitation, transcription, translation, or practical skills.
  • A permission request for republishing anything from this site.

Expect a reply when there is capacity for one. This community answers slowly and honestly rather than quickly and by template. Questions asking for therapy, diagnosis, or personal counselling cannot be answered here and will not be forwarded anywhere for that purpose, which is the boundary stated above rather than a shortcoming of this route.
