What a date cannot carry

This is an essay about a story, and what kind of story it is matters from the start. thing the story is. It circulated in this community’s conversations, it is a summary of what someone else taught, and it is not from the Ra Contact. It describes a time lateral: a temporary alternate track in spacetime, made for our solar system like a railroad shunt or a drawbridge, holding entities who were not ready to move on with the solar system’s main evolution. It is described as a last-ditch effort to raise the harvest, an extended and protected period in which unpolarised souls could make a choice between the two paths rather than being overwhelmed by the incoming energy of the next density. The image used for it is a reform school. Souls cross the bridge by choosing, and when the bridge rises the opportunity ends. The account names two factions: those holding the bridge open by love, meditation and focused intent, and others trying to sever it. And it names a date, the winter solstice of 2012, as the last point at which the bridge could be held.

The date has passed. The account may have been wrong about it, or the date may have been meant as a symbol rather than a calendar point, and a reader has no way to settle which. Neither possibility is ours to assert. That is not, however, why this essay exists. It exists because the account is a good test case, and because the part of it that survives is the part the material actually supports. Learning to tell those two parts apart is the most useful skill this library can offer, and it is easier to learn on somebody else’s prediction than on your own.

What the material does support

Strip the calendar out and the account is making three structural claims, and all three have real footing in the Ra Contact.

First, that the population of this planet is an assemblage that has been given another place to complete something. The material’s own account of where the first of us came from is exactly that.

Each mind/body/spirit or mind/body/spirit complex has an existence simultaneous with that of creation. It is not dependent upon any physical vehicle. However, in order to evolve, change, learn, and manifest the Creator the physical vehicles appropriate to each density are necessary.

Read with the answer above it, the picture is consistent with the account’s premise rather than exotic. A being that does not graduate is not discarded, and the material’s reason is mechanical: evolution requires the vehicle of the density the being is actually working in. A third-density entity that is not harvestable needs a third-density experience, and the material’s model of the harvest is a three-way split in which the unpolarised third of it simply goes somewhere else and continues. The community’s conversations describe this plainly as the reason pre-incarnative planning and the appearance of wanderers matter, and they are reading the material correctly.

Second, that the middle is the real risk. This is where the account’s dramatic parts, the factions and the hijacking and the fear that is said to be the food, give way to something narrower and more defensible. The material does name a danger regarding the harvest, and it is not an outside attacker.

To attain fifty-one percent dedication to the welfare of other-selves is as difficult as attaining a grade of five percent dedication to other-selves. The, shall we say, sinkhole of indifference is between those two.

The sinkhole of indifference. A being who has chosen service-to-self is polarised and moves; a being who has chosen service-to-others is polarised and moves; the being who has chosen nothing in particular is the one the material is worried about, and no external power is required to produce that condition. Whatever one makes of the account’s factions, the material’s own version of “what threatens the harvest” is internal stasis. That is a far less exciting claim and it is the one to carry.

Third, that holding the window open is work done by ordinary people. The account says the bridge is held by love, meditation and focused intent rather than by anyone’s authority. The material says the same thing in the passage on the call, where the arithmetic runs the opposite way from what one would expect: one caller is not a small quantity, and each additional one doubles the power of all those before it. The essay on holding light takes that mechanism apart. Here the only point is that the account’s picture of who does the work is not a fringe idea; it is this material’s account of how anything reaches across distances at all.

The material’s own relationship to dates

The part of the account that does not survive is its confidence, and here the contrast with the material is instructive rather than merely corrective.

Ra’s own most direct answer about when is a refusal of the whole shape of the question. The questioner has asked whether there is any value in completing a device that would extend life, and Ra answers by collapsing the horizon.

The harvest is now. There is not at this time any reason to include efforts along these distortions towards longevity, but rather to encourage distortions toward seeking the heart of self, for this which resides clearly in the violet-ray energy field will determine the harvesting of each mind/body/spirit complex.

Consider what that answer is doing. The questioner wants to know whether a long-term project is worth starting. Ra’s reply is that the horizon is not the relevant variable. What determines the harvest is what has become of the person, which is legible in the violet ray, and the project in question addresses a distortion of the physical vehicle instead. The instruction is not wait and not prepare for a date. It is now, and it is a matter of what you are.

The second answer is a hedge, and it is a better model than the account’s single date for how a claim of this kind should be made. A questioner proposes a year, and it is not the year the account uses.

This is an approximation. We have stated we have difficulty with your time/space. This is an appropriate probable/possible time/space nexus for harvest. Those who are not in incarnation at this time will be included in the harvest.

Three hedges in three sentences, from a source that is otherwise happy to state cosmology in the indicative. Ra is not being modest here; it is describing the shape of the thing. An event that is a nexus of probabilities, whose timing depends on the state of a planetary population and on a variable the source says it has trouble with, is not the kind of event that has a last date. A method that arrives at a probable and possible nexus, and a method that arrives at a last possible date, which in the account above is the winter solstice of 2012, are not the same method, and the difference is not cautiousness. It is the difference between a claim that can be held and a claim that has to be defended.

Three questions for any dated account

We keep this as a working rule in the community, and it is written down here so a reader can apply it to us as readily as to anyone else.

Who is speaking, and what did they claim to be? The account above is a summary of someone else’s teaching, reported by a member, and it says what it claims to be. That is honest. The failure is downstream, when the summary is repeated in a room that has stopped tracking the difference. That is why the provenance line at the top of every essay in this library names what is quoted and from where.

What would falsify it, and has anything? The account has one falsifiable element and it failed. Notice that this does not demolish the account; it demolishes the date. The distinction needs practising, because almost all urgent spiritual claims are structured the same way, with a load-bearing prediction attached to a structure that could stand without it.

What survives if the date is wrong? This is the question that decides whether something is teaching or noise. The lateral’s answer, once the calendar is removed, is a picture of a system that would rather extend a track than lose a being: another place to complete the work, a period in which a choice can be made by someone who could not have made it earlier, and a middle that is not condemned but is not moved either. Whether or not the bridge is made of that, that is the shape of the story the material tells about how this operates, and unlike the date it does not expire.

What we do with an account like this

We are not going to resolve the account here, and we are not going to allegorise it into safety. Three things are simply true at once: it circulated in this community, its cosmological structure has real footing in the material, and its specific prediction failed. A library that reports only the second of those is doing marketing, and one that reports only the third has no reason to be reading this material at all. What we do is keep the account in the category it belongs to, a report from someone else’s teaching that is useful and unverified, alongside the material’s own far more reticent answer about timing. The community’s position on the fear-based version of this material is the one its own sessions arrived at. An account organised around a hidden enemy generates the fear it claims the enemy wants, and a person who spends their remaining time tracking the threat has skipped the part of the work that was actually theirs. The material’s warning is narrower and it is worse: not that something is coming for you, but that you might not choose at all.
